Middlesboro, Ky. -Brittany and Todd Smith know from experience that even the best laid plans can change. Both graduated from Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College (SKCTC) in 2010 prepared for careers in the health care industry. Brittany earned associate of arts and science degrees and completed a handful of allied health certificates. A former U.S. Marine, Todd completed the Respiratory Care program and went to work as a respiratory therapist at Claiborne County Hospital. His job allowed Brittany to stay home with their newborn son, Ayden.
Middlesboro, Ky. - Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College (SKCTC) is pleased to announce that Sam Johnson has recently been hired as a postsecondary navigator, a new full-time grant position made available in collaboration with Berea College. In this capacity, Johnson will help first-generation college students as they transition from high school and throughout their freshman year at Southeast.

Cumberland, Ky. - Nursing Instructors Tina Shoope and Ruth Ellen Arwood, along with a group of freshman RN students, visited Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Kentucky on Wednesday November 15. Established by Mary Breckenridge who saw a need in the area for midwives, the university is rich in history. "This trip really inspired our students," says Shoope, "and they loved learning about the history of nursing in our rural area."
Cumberland, Ky. - The Southeast Community Choir will present their annual Christmas concert at the Christ Episcopal Church in Harlan, KY, at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2017. Directed by Ann Schertz and accompanied by Clara Atkins Pope, the concert will include favorites such as "O Holy Night" along with interesting choral arrangements of lesser known carols such as "Mary's Little Boy Child," "I Saw Three Ships Come Sailing In," and "Masters in This Hall." Middlesboro, Ky. - Home Federal Bank recently donated $10,000 towards the Southeast Educational Alliance Center on the Middlesboro Campus of Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College (SKCTC). This was the second pledge payment for what will be a total of $50,000.
