What is a Physical Therapist Assistant?
The mission of the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program is to prepare individuals to become physical therapist assistants who are able to perform selected components of interventions and data collection under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist. The program will prepare graduates who are eligible to sit for the national licensing examination for the physical therapist assistant.
Enrollment in this program is limited; therefore, a selective admissions process is followed.
What are my career choices?
Demand for physical therapy services is expected to increase in response to the healthcare needs of an older population. A physical therapist assistant may work under the supervision of a physical therapist in settings such as rehabilitation centers, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, extended care facilities, sports training facilities, home health care, school systems, and hospitals.
