Selective Admission Criteria

The overall criteria of each applicant will be considered and assigned a point value as indicated below.

  1. ACT National Exam Score or SAT score is utilized as the point computation for this section.       


  2. The actual overall College GPA (12 or more college credit hours) is utilized as the point computation for this section.


    No applicant shall be considered for admission with less than a 2.0 GPA based upon the criteria that a student must maintain a “C” or better in the program required General Education and PTA Program courses.


    The academic achievement of applicants with less than 12 hours of college credit will be considered on the following basis:

    Required Math & Science Courses -  A maximum of 3 points will be awarded to applicants who have completed the following required math and science courses in the approved curriculum with an “A” (4.00) grade receiving 1 point per course and a “B” (3.00) grade receiving 0.5 point per course.

  3. Interview Process – In the event of a tie, applicants may be interviewed by the PTA faculty and members of the Admissions Committee and Advisory Committee.  A maximum of 4 points will be given for the interview, ½ point possible in each of the following categories:

     
    Problem-solving Professional Judgment Versatility
    Assertiveness/Risk-taking Communication Skills Goal Setting
    Organization/Planning Interaction  

    The PTA Program faculty and members of the Admissions Committee and Advisory Committee, using behavioral interview questions, will conduct the interviews, if necessary for admission.

  4. Applicants admitted into the Physical Therapist Assistant Regional Program must have    completed BIO 137, Human Anatomy and Physiology I, or its equivalent, with a "C" or higher, prior to entering the program.

  5. Applicants admitted into the Physical Therapist Assistant Regional Program must have completed a program-approved CPR course, prior to entering the program.

  6. Preference may be given to applicants with an ACT National Exam composite score of 19 or higher, or the equivalent on the SAT. 

    Preference may be given to applicants who have completed 12 or more credit hours in the approved curriculum with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher from any accredited college.

    Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate above average standing in high school or on the General Education Development Examination (GED).

    Preference may be given to Kentucky residents and applicants from the college service area.
