Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College and Union College have joined
in a collaborative effort as the two institutions came together on Nov. 4 to sign
a total of six (2+2) agreements leading to the bachelor s degree in a variety of endeavors.
According to Dr. Lynn Moore, president of Southeast, students from the community college
will complete the first 67-plus hours with SKCTC and then go directly to Union to
finish their bachelors degree in business administration, social work, criminal justice,
psychology and the bachelors in middle school science and middle school math and social
studies. Dr. Moore noted that SKCTC students will enjoy a seamless transfer to Union
and the agreements were developed to increase the opportunities for Southeast graduates
to pursue baccalaureate degree programs and to enhance their ability to transfer.
The 2+2 agreement will assist both institutions in meeting the Council on Public Education
(CPE) goals of the number of baccalaureate degrees earned within Kentucky. Courses
in the agreement are based on associate of arts degrees offered at Southeast and students
will be fully accepted into Union College. Participating in the signing were Dr. Moore,
Dr. Wheeler Conover, chief academic officer at SKCTC and Union President Dr. Marcia
Hawkins and UC officials Dr. Jim Rubin, Dr. Robert Armour, Dr. Paula Allen and Dr.
David Johns.
