What does a Nurse Aide do?

The focus of the course will be to teach students nursing assistant functions under the supervision of the licensed nurse and assists in meeting the hygiene, comfort, safety, and emotional needs of the patients. 

What are my career choices?

Nursing Assistants may be employed in a variety of settings such as long-term care facilities, hospitals, hospice, medical offices, and home health care settings.

What are the admission requirements?

 There are no special admission requirements or perquisites for the Medicaid Nurse Aide (NAA 100 or MNA 100) program. 

Length of Program

Students can earn a Medicaid Nurse Aide Certificate in eight weeks.

Resources

Attendance: Due to state and federal regulations, attendance is mandatory. The student must satisfactorily complete the minimum theory, lab, and clinical hours as set forth by state and federal regulation.

Clinical: You will be required to attend two eight hour days of clinical experience at a long-term care facility and may be scheduled during the day, evening or weekend hours.

Background Check: Clinical facilities require students complete a background check. The clinical facility has the right to deny student placement based on the results of their background check. Students not allowed to attend clinical cannot meet the requirements of the program.

Health Certifications: Students must have a 2-Step PPD (TB Skin Test), provide proof of the Hepatitis B vaccinations or a signed declination. Students will not be allowed to attend clinical without proof.
