Knox Campus Student of the Month

Clayton WalkerClayton Walker has always known he wanted to work with his hands.

That interest led him to Southeast’s Knox Campus, where he is the January Student of the Month and is working toward his welding degree, with plans to graduate in May 2026.

Clayton thrives in the welding lab, where hands-on projects and a supportive learning environment have helped him grow his skills. He says strong instruction and practical experience have made the program especially rewarding.

One project stands out: building a miniature semitruck from the ground up alongside instructor Jeffery Grubb. The experience allowed Clayton to apply what he has learned and see tangible progress in his work.

His parents, he said, have been his biggest influence. “They always make sure I’m doing my best, in school and out,” Clayton said.

Outside the lab, Clayton plays soccer, balancing technical training with time on the field.

After Southeast, he plans to continue his education in materials engineering, building on the foundation he has developed through welding.
