In-Service events mark beginning of school year

The official beginning of the school year began in grand fashion August 1 with the beginning of in-service activities. The opening day featured a breakfast buffet for faculty and staff at the Benham School House Inn followed by Dr. Bruce Ayers State of College Address. Later in the morning, noted speaker Dr. Mark Taylor of Arkansas addressed the several hundred in attendance on the topic of generations in the workplace and how to better reach and motivate students of the 21st Century. Later that day, the annual awards ceremony was held to honor SKCTC employees for their many years of service to the institution. The second day of the event moved to the Harlan campus where KCTCS Board of Regents Chairman, and Southeast alumnus, Porter G. Peeples addressed the assembly.
