Tri-State Mining Cable team wins scholarship event
A team sponsored by Tri-State Mining Cable captured first place during the 24th annual Faye Simpson Southeast Scholarship Golf Classic held June 4 at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course at Cumberland.
The team, comprised of Bobby Warf, Eddie Leisge, Mark Lowe and Joe Eldridge, finished 16 under par to win the event.
Tri-State Mining Cable and the Dream Team, which included Denley Lucas, Rick Seals, Bryan Fleming and Chris Tolliver, finished in a tie after 18 holes. The title was determined by a scorecard playoff.
The event generates much-needed funding for scholarships which are awarded to deserving and to in-need students who attend Southeast Kentucky Community amp; Technical College.
We truly appreciate all those who participated in the 2011 event, said Tiffany B. Scott, coordinator for the classic. We had a very good turnout, and it was a wonderful day of golf and fellowship. Several thousands of dollars were generated to support students who might otherwise not have the prospects to get a college education.
Scott also paid tribute to the sponsors whose generosity made the event possible.
Gold and silver sponsors for the occasion included: Creech Chevy, Buick and Pontiac, Croushorn Equipment, the Kentucky Coal Academy, CBTS, Harlan ARH Hospital, Barnes and Noble College and SEKRI.
