Whitesburg Campus celebration to be held Friday, February 11 beginning at 10:00 AM.

A celebration of a half-century of service to the region by Southeast Kentucky Community amp; Technical College in the form of an open house has been scheduled for Friday, February 11 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Whitesburg campus.

Campus director Deborah K. Young said the event will be an opportunity for the college and its faculty, staff and student body to showcase their campus as well as a means of promoting the schools various programs.

We are eager to see our many friends as they come to campus to tour our facilities and to learn more about the mission of Southeast Kentucky Community amp; Technical College and discover the contributions the college has made to the area.

The occasion begins at 10 oclock on the Whitesburg campus of SKCTC, and during the event visitors will have the opportunity to view a video tribute to the college, The Southeast Story. The video will be available for viewing in the Cory Reynolds Frazier Auditorium located in the Belinda Mason Building.

Also, for screening by the public, will be an collection of posters created by students in the Appalachian Studies classes. These will be displayed in room 128 of Caudill Hall.

Additionally, displays from the annual Treasures From the Hills and Hollows folk event held each autumn will be on display, while posters and displays created by chemistry and biology students will be presented in the biology lab located in room 112 of the Hogg Allied Health Building.

Students in the SKCTC Radiography and Respiratory Care programs will demonstrate a variety of equipment used to train students; the locations will be in room 235 of the Belinda Mason Building and room 112 of Caudill Hall.

Visitors will also be able to examine a 15 feet by 40 feet mural depicting the development of the Whitesburg campus. The mural, created in 2009 by faculty member Sue Greer-Pitt, is located in the lobby of Caudill Hall.

A luncheon will be served beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the community room of the Belinda Mason Building.
