Veterans Day tribute held at SKCTC Harlan Campus

Southeast Kentucky Community amp; Technical College paid tribute to veterans November 11, honoring local individuals who have served in the United States armed forces. The event, held on the Harlan campus, began with a flag raising ceremony conducted by members of the Jr. ROTC cadet unit from Harlan County High School followed by a program held in the little theater. Featured speakers were State Representative Rick Nelson, campus director Chuck Sturgill, Carl Shoupe, a veteran of the Viet Nam conflict, and Lt. Col. John Luttrell, a decorated veteran of military actions in Panama and Iraq. Additionally, patriotic music was performed and two videos were shown to the lage crowd. (Photos by Chris Jones)
