
Upward Bound students enjoy successful summer at SKCTC
Students enrolled in the Upward Bound Program operated locally by Southeast Kentucky
Community amp; Technical College completed recently a five-week education and cultural
enrichment program. The program at SKCTC has been viable for over four decades and
is one of the oldest Upward Bound Programs in continuation as 45 high school students
from Harlan and Bell counties participated in the 2011 session. Participants completed
inclusive course work in areas of English, math, journalism, psychology, business,
music appreciation, study stills, Upward Bound orientation and sessions in developing
job interviewing skills

Miracle, Chelly Morgan, Jacob Morgan, Dakota Overbay, Harry Page, Patricia Price,
Caleb Saylor, Mary Saylor, Shannon Saylor, Hannah Shaw, Kimberly Shears, Jacob Smith,
Kelly Smith, Brittany Watts, Amber Wheeler, Kymberlyn Wilson, McKayla Wyrick, Caitlyn
Zachery, Tiffany Brock, Aubree Davis, Amanda Henderson, Katherine Jackson, Joy Langley,
Raymond Lee, Anthony Long, Olivia Marsee, Danielle Middleton, Sarah Risner and Sarah
Shaw. Members of the instruction and support staff included: David Dixon, Debbie Dudash,
Ashley Creech, Deron Major, Sabrina Cummings, Michelle Dykes, Andrea Massey and Brandon
Howard.
The session ran from June 1 until July 9 and culminated with a trip to the Smokey Mountains.
