
Two Southeast students named to KCTCS All-Academic team
Thirty-one of Kentuckys top college students were honored recently as members of the Kentucky Community amp; Technical College Systems 2010 All-Academic Team during the eighth annual KCTCS Student Academic Achievement luncheon held at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville. Students from each of the 16 KCTCS colleges were chosen for the All-Academic Team based on a rigorous selection process that focuses on academic performance and campus involvement. Each member of the All-Academic team received a $500 gift from their college, as well as scholarship opportunities to continue their education from 15 Kentucky public and private universities. Together, the scholarships are valued at more than $500,000.
The 2010 KCTCS All-Academic Team Scholars are part of a national program sponsored by the national honor society Phi Theta Kappa, USA Today and the American Association of Community Colleges.
These 31 students represent the great promise that can be achieved through higher education, said KCTCS President Michael B. McCall. We are proud of their accomplishments and wish them great success as they continue their education and career development.
Named to the All-Academic Team were two students from Southeast Kentucky Community amp; Technical College: Brooke Sergent of Harlan and Susanna Smith of Pineville.

How proud we are of our students Brooke Sergent and Susanna Smith. This is quite an accomplishment for them. We wish them nothing but the best as they move toward securing a baccalaureate degree from one of the states fine four-year universities.
