Tri-City Chamber of Commerce to host Farewell Reception in honor of Dr. W. Bruce Ayers

Tuesday, June 25, 2013, will mark the last day of Dr. Bruce Ayers 44-year tenure as President of Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College. On this day, it is an honor for the Tri-City Chamber of Commerce to host a Farewell Reception in Ayers honor. During most of his tenure at the college, Ayers has also served the chamber as Executive Director.

Dr. Ayers leadership at the college and through the chamber both mirror what our slogan at the chamber says and that is working for a better Tri-Cities, said Jeff Wilder, President of the Tri-City Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Ayers vision to better communities is evidenced also in Whitesburg and Harlan with renovated campus there and new buildings in Middlesboro, Wilder stated.

Of important note is the location of the Farewell Reception - it will be held in the gathering area of Newman Hall. Newma

n Hall was the first building erected on the Southeast Campus in Cumberland and for many years served the community as a meeting place for local events.

At the reception, guests will be able to sign a memory book created by the college staff to allow personal notations to Ayers.

There have been various events to honor Dr. Ayers, and the chamber is honored to host this last event, Wilder added. Former students, co-workers, chamber members, friends everyone is welcome to attend this event.

The Farewell Reception will be from 2 p.m. 4 p.m. in Newman Hall on the Cumberland Campus of Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College.
