State college system honors Southeast employees

A total of 50 faculty and staff from the Kentucky Community and Technical College (KCTCS) colleges and the system office were recognized for their leadership and significant achievement at a banquet held recently in Louisville.

Each of the 16 KCTCS colleges selected an outstanding administrative staff member, support staff member and faculty member.

Statewide honors went to three individuals who not only supported their college, but also the entire system. Rebecca Simms, director of Opportunity College at Bluegrass Community and Technical College, was honored as the 2010 Administrative Staff Award of Excellence recipient. Melody Burbarge, student affairs assistant at Henderson Community College, was honored as the Support Staff Award of Excellence recipient. Laura Ford Hall, assistant professor/director of the music and drama program at Big Sandy Community amp; Technical College, was honored as the Faculty Award of Excellence recipient.

Also honored were Southeast Kentucky Community amp; Technical College employees Merrill Galloway, director of information technology, nominated for the Administrative Staff Award; Sherry Tinsley, library specialist, nominated for the Support Staff Award and Kevin Lambert, faculty, nominated for the Faculty Award.
