Southeast's Summer Scrubs Camp Program gives local students insight into various health careers

The Summer Scrubs Camp Program, run by Southeast Kentucky Community amp; Technical College, serves eighth and ninth graders and provides participants with an insight to various health careers with both visual and hands-on learning experiences. The program is also sponsored by the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) and Harlan ARH. The program operates in Harlan, Bell and Letcher counties, and participants must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average. Shandeal Fields is the coordinator, and recently students from Harlan County toured Harlan ARH. Those taking part locally included: Danielle Saylor, Haley Hall, Kali Nolan, Madison Owens and Krista Cress. Camps, under the direction of Ms. Fields, will also be held this month in Whitesburg and in Middlesboro.
