Southeasts Middlesboro campus to host open house Dec. 3
Tours of the campus will be conducted during the day and a program slated to begin at 11 in room 340 will feature college and community recollections and greetings by students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the college.
Additionally, several former campus directors and current administrator Susan Croushorn will make remarks as will SKCTC President Dr. W. Bruce Ayers. During the program, a video tribute to the school will be shown. A timeline chronicling SKCTCs five decades of service will be on display, and a separate timeline centering on the development and growth of the Middlesboro campus will also be exhibited.
According to Croushorn, the event will be a time for people to come to the campus, to celebrate and to learn of the rich history and remarkable legacy of Southeast. We are truly excited to be able to host the open house and program, she said. The public is cordially invited to attend, to come out and experience and learn what the college is all about; what Southeast Kentucky Community amp; Technical College means to the community, to the region to the entire state.
SKCTC opened its doors in 1960 to a student body of 266 at the campus in Cumberland. Begun as a center of the University of Kentucky, the college, over the decades, has developed into five full-service campuses with an enrollment surpassing 5,000. The college became part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College system in 1998. Today, KCTCS serves over 100,000 students at 16 colleges and on 64 campuses across the commonwealth.
