
Kentucky Congressman Andy Barr spoke with students enrolled in the Southeast Scholars
Program who were in Washington, D.C. recently as part of their week-long summer camp.
The Southeast Scholars program, operated by Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical
College, is for local students grades 7 through 12. Its mission is to assist and encourage
first-generation college students to stay in school and also improve their readiness
to enter college. Congressman Barr, from Kentuckys sixth district, spoke to the students
about the role of the House of Representatives in U.S. government and also spoke of
the importance of SKCTC to the state. The program is under the direction of Sandra
Brown.
