SKCTC VICE PRESIDENT NAMED INTERIM PRESIDENT AT GATEWAY COMMUNITY AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE

CUMBERLAND, Ky. Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKCTC) Vice President Dr. Vic Adams was recently named the interim president of Gateway Community and Technical College (GCTC).

KCTCS President Dr. Jay Box announced the change at the last GCTC Board of Directors meeting, held Thursday, March 17th. Dr. Adams will be the second interim president since the departure of longtime Gateway President Ed Hughes back in September of 2015. Dr. Keith Bird, KCTCS Chancellor Emeritus, had served as interim since then, but will step down March 31st due to health and family reasons.

Dr. Adams, who also serves as SKCTCs Chief Workforce Officer and director of the Middlesboro campus, will begin his duties on April 1st and will hold the position until June 30th. The GCTC Board of Directors have previously stated they plan to have a new president in place by July 1st. Dr. Adams is not a candidate for the full time post.

"I look forward to working with the faculty and staff at Gateway Community and Technical College to provide quality educational and workforce programs to meet the needs of the communities we serve. Adams said. While I'll miss everyone here in the community, I look forward to the opportunity to serve GCTC as interim president.

Dr. Rebecca Parrott will serve as interim Middlesboro campus director in Adams absence.
