Nursing department holds annual convocation for first-year nursing students; Recognizes Dr. Lynn Moore
A convocation for first-year
nursing students attending Southeast Kentucky Community amp; Technical College was
held recently in the auditorium at Harlan County High School. The event served to
inform students and their families of the hard work and dedication involved with becoming
a nurse. During the convocation, professionalism, integrity and ethics were promoted
along with the need for compassion and caring. The students took the nursing code
of ethics pledge and each received a nursing lamp pin that is symbolic of the dedication,
care and devotion nurses must exhibit. Professor Kathy Guyn, the division chair for
nursing and related technologies at SKCTC, presented a plaque to college President
Dr. Lynn Moore, right, welcoming her to Southeast. Additionally, the family of Jesse Jones, a graduate of the program who this summer lost his life in the crash of a medical transport helicopter, received a plaque containing photos of Mr. Jones as a student at SKCT and on the job as a flight nurse.
