Miss Southeast Pageant set for Feb. 5 at Appalachian Center
An evening of beauty, grace and pageantry -- the Miss Southeast Scholarship Pageant -- will be held Saturday, February 5 beginning at 6:15 in the Godbey Appalachian Center located on the SKCTC Cumberland campus.
Young women will represent each of the schools five campuses as they vie for the coveted title of Miss Southeast. Contestants, who must be enrolled fulltime, never married and have a grade point average of 2.5 or better, are eligible to compete for the title.
Contestants will be judged on poise, talent and an interview with judges prior to the event. The winner will receive a $1,000 one-semester scholarship to attend Southeast.
The inaugural Miss Southeast Scholarship Pageant was held in 1989 and since that time, the winner has represented SKCTC at the Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival held each spring at Pineville.
As part of the colleges 50th anniversary celebration, former pageant winners have been invited to return to the event on Feb. 5 where they will receive special recognition.
For further information regarding the pageant, contact Veria Cookie Baldwin, SKCTC Cumberland, phone 589-3018.
Admission is $2.
