Holiday extravaganza coming to Southeast Cumberland campus, Dec. 6 and 7 with performance of The Nutcracker

Featuring a cast of 40 performers, the annual holiday spectacle: A Christmas Dream, The Nutcracker, will be performed for the community on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 7 at 2:30 p.m. in the Edsel Godbey Appalachian Center located on the Cumberland campus of Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College.

The timeless ballet by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, will be performed by the students of Robyns Dance Academy with dancers ages three to college age taking part. The show is sponsored by the Theater Arts Department of Southeast.

Director and choreographer Robyn L. Bingham noted the event is a ballet that travels around the World and focuses on the story of young Clara, who on Christmas Eve, receives as a gift a wooden doll. Upon falling asleep under the ornate holiday tree, her dreams become brilliant and thrilling as the spirit and splendor of Christmas suddenly spring to life.

Tickets will be on sale at the theater box office and are priced at $10 for adults and $5 for students.
