Full scholarships available for Southeast students through Direct2Degree initiative

The Direct2Degree or (D2D) an initiative of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System will be awarding a total of 25 full scholarships to motivated students attending KCTCS institutions of which Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College is associated.

Those who receive scholarships for the pilot cohort beginning Jan. 15 will be involved in a new, totally flexible, competency-based, self-paced degree delivery method that builds on Learn on Demands flexibility and is focused on reducing the adult students time in getting a degree by taking a linear, sequential set of courses (one course at a time). There is no limitation on how many courses and hours the student can complete during the pilot period. Students can finish as much as they can.

Those selected, will be awarded full-tuition scholarships and not have any need for financial aid. Federal aid, however, will not be available to students wishing to participate in the pilot program.

The program is looking for students who want to finish their degree faster and who will commit dedicated study time of a minimum of 12 to 20 hours or more per week on average and who are college ready, work well independently, have good organization and time management skills and are comfortable with online learning technology.

The D2D program will commence January 15 and conclude April 30, and to find out more about securing a scholarship, contact lisa.jackson@kctcs.edu or phone 859-256-3236 for additional information. The recipients will be chosen by Dec. 20.
