College participating in Finish Up for Free initiative

Southeast Kentucky Community @ Technical College is participating in an innovative program being offered by Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program, Inc. (EKCEP).

Finish Up for Free is the agencys newest initiative and is designed to help people from the region reach their goal of earning as Associates Degree. Finish Up for Free is designed to aid residents within EKCEPs 23-county service region in the completion of the necessary classes in order to earn a degree.

The program is available for individuals who have completed 70 percent of the requirements forAssociates Degree, but have, for whatever reason, been forced to drop out of college. Finish Up for Free can pay for tuition, text books and other expenses up to $6,000 that can help individuals complete the final one or two semesters needed to achieve their degrees.

There are, however, some eligibility guidelines in order to participate in the program. In addition and in accordance with EKCEP policy, candidates for the Finish Up for Free initiative must be pursuing training that is directly linked to employment opportunities in EKCEPs service region or in an area to which the client is willing to relocate.

To receive additional information about Finish Up for Free, contact Flora Wattenberger or Roland Cornett in the Jobsite Office located in the Appalachian Center on the SKCTC campus at Cumberland by phoning 589-3120 or 589-3021.
