Auditions for SKCTC play set for Jan. 18 and 19

Auditions for the play Bloody Jack a production by the Center Stage Players at Southeast Kentucky Community amp; Technical College will be held January 18 and 19 at 7 p.m. in the Edsel Godbey Appalachian Center located on the Cumberland campus.

The play, according to director Michael Corriston, will be presented in two terrifying acts written by Tim Kelly. The play asks the question who was Jack the Ripper? For three months in 1888, death stalked the gloomy alleyways of a London slum. Seven women were brutally murdered. The murderer was never caught or identified.

The play to be produced at SKCTC will offer theories and it takes place in the home of Dr. Sargeant. Each person who comes to visit him is a suspect. In traditional mysteries, playwright Kelly noted that the audience is supposed to guess who? In this play, to get to the who you have to establish the why? Carefully, he constructed the plot and he throws suspicion onto each character, with the final revelation coming as a surprise.

Four men and four women are needed for the production. Auditions are open to anyone interested and those auditioning will read selected pages from the script. Production of the play will occur in mid April, and for further information contact Mr. Corriston at SKCTC Cumberland by phoning 589-3137.
