An International Arts amp; Entertainment Festival will be held at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College on Saturday, November 16, 2013. A project of the SKCTC Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Special Programs, Theatre Arts, and Arts and Humanities Departments, the festival highlights the extraordinary diversity found in our county, our college system and surrounding communities. Classes and Lectures will be offered, in addition to a meal of ethnic cuisine, and a variety show demonstrating many of the varying offerings our community presents.

5:00 Yoga : Book Discussion: The Science of Yoga by William J. Broad : Yoga Demonstration by Stephanie Smith

At 6pm, the Office for Diversity/Inclusion Special Programs invites all to an International Meal. Dr. Carolyn Sundy is in charge of arrangements for the meal. The community is invited to bring a dish to highlight a country/culture/food that you love!!! Please have all dishes in the foyer of the Appalachian Center no later than 5:30pm, so that set up and festivities can begin!!!

The seventh International Arts amp; Entertainment Variety Show will open the curtain at approximately 7pm. All guests and performers are invited to wear their country of origin fashions. Our headlining guest performer this year will be Angie Doran from Kingsport, Tennessee. Ms. Doran will demonstrate for our audience the beauties of ancient, modern and fusion Middle Eastern Dance, known in some circles as bellydancing. The Variety Show will also present local performers from Robyns Dance Academy; Heather Adams Academy of Dance, featuring choreography by Stephanie Smith and Taylor Lankford. Musical performances will be presented by the Harlan Boys Choir Alumni Choir, Pianist Ann Schertz in collaboration with T. Ryland Pope, and vocalist Tammie Chapman. A demonstration of Chinese Calligraphy will be offered by visiting Chinese students, currently enrolled for classes on the SKCTC Middlesboro campus.

There is one admission charge, which covers all events: $10 adults, $5 students, no charge children age 6 and under.
