Phlebotomy
Learn key nursing skills and practice them in a variety of real-world settings.
what is phlebotomy?
As part of the initiative to best serve our students and our community, Phlebotomy courses are offered at Southeast. Students successfully completing all course requirements are locally certified in Phlebotomy for the Health Care Worker and are eligible to sit for national certification. The three Phlebotomy courses are taken concurrently in one semester and can be completed as a stand-alone credential or as part of the Medical Assisting program, and financial aid may be available.
Students will be effectively trained and adequately equipped with the fundamental skills needed to work as a phlebotomist. The courses provide quality education and includes topics such as medical ethics, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, communication, record keeping, specimen collection, chain of custody, laboratory safety, and quality control.

Additional Information
The PHB courses have strict classroom and clinical attendance policies.
In addition to the regular in-person classes, students must complete approximately 100 clinical hours. The course instructor will work with students to schedule these clinical hours, and will only consider academic course schedules when assigning clinical time.
There will be activities and meetings held outside the classroom and possibly at times other than scheduled class times. These activities are mandatory and students must attend.
