  • If you received a denial from FEMA or an amount that you feel is unfair, county, state, and FEMA officials recommend that you appeal to FEAM, and appeal in person if possible. There may just be a paperwork issue that can be addressed.
  • Officials are encouraging the public to apply for SBA assistance even if they may not want to take a loan. The application is useful in keeping your case open just in case you need it. Plus, if determined ineligible for a SBA loan, you may be redirected to another FEMA program. The SBA is available at Appalachian Groundswell (old Whitesburg Post Office) AND at the Letcher County Recreation Center. Loans are long term and low interest and available to businesses, homeowners, renters, and non-profits including churches.
