A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 12:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, to celebrate the reopening of Caudill Hall at the Whitesburg campus of Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College. The event will include a brief tour of the renovated building and a meet-and-greet with SKCTC President Dr. Lee Harrison as part of the campus’s Open House and Resource Fair.

Caudill Hall, formerly the Coca-Cola Bottling Plant, was severely damaged during the
late July 2022 flooding that devastated much of Letcher County. The reopening marks
the first Open House and Resource Fair on the Whitesburg campus since the flood.
“This moment represents more than the reopening of a building — it’s a symbol of resilience
for our campus and our community,” said Deborah Young, Whitesburg campus director.
“The flood of 2022 brought unimaginable challenges, but now we celebrate progress,
renewal, and the return of students to a space that has been at the heart of our campus
for decades.”
The ceremony will be held at the front entrance of Caudill Hall, with light refreshments
provided immediately afterward. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the updated
facilities, connect with faculty and staff, and learn more about available academic
programs and student resources.
