SKCTC to celebrate Pineville campus grand reopening
Published on Dec 1, 2025
Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony
and grand reopening for its Pineville campus Friday, Dec. 5, at 11:30 a.m., after
more than a year of renovations.
The event, held in partnership with the Bell County Chamber of Commerce, marks the
completion of a major renovation project that positions the campus as a modern hub
for education and workforce development.
“I am honored to celebrate the grand reopening of our Pineville campus after extensive
renovations,” said Dr. Rebecca Johnson, vice president of student affairs and Pineville
campus director. “Having started my career here in 1996, this moment holds special
significance. These upgrades will greatly enhance opportunities for our students and
strengthen our region.”
The campus recently underwent a $3 million renovation, ensuring that the facility
continues to meet the region’s growing needs, particularly in healthcare education.
Upgrades include a new roof, upgraded HVAC and mechanical systems with enhanced fire
safety and cosmetic improvements such as new flooring and fresh paint.
Guests attending the ceremony will enjoy lunch, tour the updated facility, and learn
about new opportunities for students and the community.
Southeast’s Pineville campus has a proud legacy of serving the community since its
founding in 1961 as the Pineville School for Practical Nurses. After relocating to
its current site in 1983, the campus broadened its offerings to include GED testing
and continuing education. Today, it is home to several health and medical programs,
including Licensed Practical Nursing, Surgical Technology, Radiography and Respiratory
Care.
