SKCTC celebrates first graduating class from Knox campus CDL program with 100% success rate

The first graduating class of the Commercial Driver’s License program at Southeast
Kentucky Community & Technical College’s Knox Campus achieved a remarkable milestone
with a 100% success rate. All six students in this inaugural class—Troy Bierman, Grant
Haley, Christopher Saylor, Aaron Sexton, Brayden Spencer, and Tyler Warren—earned
their CDL after completing the four-week program.
This achievement was made possible by the program’s fast-track structure and its partnership
with Kentucky Communities Economic Opportunity Council (KCEOC) and the Eastern Kentucky
Concentrated Employment Program (EKCEP).
In addition to the program's exceptional pass rate, two students achieved record-breaking performances in the maneuver section of the CDL test, setting new standards for both time and points. These accomplishments are a testament to the hard work and dedication of both the students and the instructors, Rod Messer and Mikey Brown, who have been instrumental in supporting each student's journey.
“We’re incredibly proud of these graduates and their hard-earned success,” said Sherri Clark, dean of SKCTC Workforce Solutions. “Their commitment to mastering CDL skills, along with the strong support from our instructors, has set a high bar for future classes.”
The next CDL class will begin Monday, Jan. 6, at the Knox Campus. For more information on enrollment, please contact Collin Grubb at 606.670.5529.
