Message from the President - 8/19/2020

Dear Southeast Family,

The fall semester at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College is underway! Although we are continuing to stagger employee schedules, sometimes working from home as part of our current reopening phase, I am pleased to see so much activity on our campuses.

This academic year, we are doing all that we can to meet the needs of our students during this unprecedented time. Some students are returning to the classroom, while others are opting to study solely online. Still others are taking advantage of our hybrid offerings which give them a mixture of both experiences.

Southeast also offers a selection of abbreviated schedules. On August 17, not only did our “regular” 16-week classes begin, but we also launched our first set of five and eight-week classes. In September, the second five-week session and the 12-week session begin. In October, the third five-week session and the bi-term session begin. If this were not enough, we also have online learn-on-demand classes that begin and end throughout the semester. In other words, our students have the opportunity to enroll in the classes they need to fulfill their educational goals through November.

It is NOT too late to enroll in fall classes!

It is NOT too late to enroll in fall classes! At Southeast, we care about the health and safety of our students and employees, and we are carefully following the guidelines developed by KCTCS which follow the recommendations from the CPE, the Governor’s office, and local health agencies. We will continue to practice social distancing, and masks are be worn by everyone on campus. Our M&O staff are doing a great job of keeping our facilities clean and sanitized. With everyone working together, we will do our very best to keep our students and each other #HealthyAtSoutheast.”

Although we are facing uncertain times and figuring out our “new normal” as we go, one thing has not changed: Our students are our greatest resource, and our job, no matter the circumstances, is to offer them an affordable, quality education in their own backyards. It’s what we do.
