Libraries Respond to COVID-19
March 18, 2020
The safety of our library patrons and employees is our top priority. We are following the protocol recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. We continue to follow best hygiene practices including regularly cleaning and disinfecting surfaces and equipment, making hand sanitizer available to our students, and encouraging frequent hand washing.
SKCTC Libraries will maintain regular operating hours, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, to assist students as the college transitions to online instruction. Only SKCTC employees and students are permitted inside the libraries until further notice. Staff will practice social distancing, maintaining a space of approximately six feet. Library staff will be available to off-campus students during regular operating hours at 606-589-3209. Students may also reach out using our Ask-A-Librarian online form. Overdue fines for any library materials checked out at this time will be waived.
SKCTC Libraries have 70+ databases, available from computers and mobile devices. Sign-on using KCTCS credentials (jdoe0376@kctcs.edu/password). Students can find electronic books, reference materials, videos, academic journals, magazines, newspapers, conference proceedings, and more. Uncertain where to begin? There are 20+ Library Guides, starting points for recommended resources in particular subjects, programs, and courses. Students can also find videos about how to use all of these resources on the Library Guides page.
The COVID-19 pandemic remains a fluid situation. Follow @SKCTC_Library on Twitter for updates.
