Michaelis Named SKCTC Chief Academic Officer

Cumberland, Ky. – Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College President Vic Adams has appointed Dr. Joel Michaelis to serve as chief academic officer (CAO).

 

"I'm excited to be part of the Southeast family and look forward to working with the faculty and staff, as well as Dr. Adams and the administrative team,” Michaelis said.  “Southeast is clearly an integral part of the communities in which it serves. I feel fortunate to be joining a college culture that strives to meet the needs of the community and its citizens."

 

Michaelis earned an Ed.D. in educational administration from Baylor University, a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Texas, and a B.B.A. in management from Texas A&M University. He currently serves as the Dean of Navarro College South Campus in Waco, Texas.

 

“The broad range of experience in leadership, accreditation and higher education in general, will prove to be a true asset to our college, “said Dr. Adams. “We are excited to welcome him onboard.”

 

Michaelis will begin his new role on July 16.
