Cumberland, Ky. – Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKCTC) Workforce Solutions partnered with local companies to increase enrollment and workforce development. The Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS) released its inaugural Workforce and Economic Development Annual Report this week – in connection with National Workforce Development Month – the first comprehensive synopsis of activities among KCTCS Workforce Solutions departments.

According to the report, Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College Workforce Solutions successfully served 83 businesses last year.

At SKCTC, those initiatives included:

  • Training 87 employees in Electrical, CPR & First Aid, and Safety & Universal Precautions for Chu-Con, Inc.-this led to increased enrollment in our Electrical Technology Program and allowed one employee to complete his associate degree after completing the training
  • Providing 122 short term certifications in Fiber Optics, CPR and OSHA to at risk youth thru a partnership with The Appalachian Challenge Academy-giving them the tools and skills needed for success upon graduation.

SKCTC Workforce Solutions and our business partnerships believe in working together to create a workforce that makes a difference, provides skills that meet the needs of the 21st century, and ensures a brighter future for Kentucky.

Overall Results:

  • 2160 enrollments
  • The top three open enrollments were as follows:
