Billings appointed transfer liaison
Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College has appointed a transfer liaison
to assist students who desire to transfer to four-year colleges and universities once
they have completed course work on any of its five campuses.
Georgeina Billings, who has worked at the college for 25 years as a staff assistant, will assume this new role effective July 1, according to Dr. Wheeler Conover, Dean of Academic Affairs, and will work under the direction of institutions transfer counselor, Joe Sutton.
We are very excited about having Ms. Billings assume this role, Sutton said. It will allow us to work more directly with the several institutions to which our students are transferring, not only in coordinating visits by their representatives to our campuses but also in arranging tours for our students on their campuses. Sutton noted that some students will complete baccalaureate degrees through courses offered by several colleges on one or all of Southeasts campuses or through online instruction.
In conjunction with Ms. Billings assuming this new role, SKCTC will be opening transfer centers on each of its campusesCumberland, Harlan, Middlesboro, Pineville and Whitesburgall of which will be equipped with detailed information about colleges and universitiesin and out-of-statethat attract significant numbers of Southeast students.
Ms. Billings holds an associate of arts degree from Southeast and a bachelors degree in business from Tusculum College.
In the 2007-08 academic year, some 479 students transferred from Southeast to in-state schools, with another 90 attending out-of-state institutions.
