Mock disaster prepares Southeast students for real thing

A mock disaster event was held April 18 on the Cumberland campus of Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College providing training for Southeast’s Allied Health students as well as giving local first responders the opportunity to hone their skills. The scenario at the Edsel Godbey Appalachian Center centered on the chaos wreaked by two supposed gunmen as well as the detonation of a bomb. SKCTC students as well as public school pupils served as victims. State, county and local police agencies took part as did fire and rescue units. Three medical transport helicopters also responded to the drill.
