STEM camp held on Cumberland campus

Middle school students ages 10-13 from across the area participated recently in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), camp held for two days on the Cumberland campus of Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College. Students, working with SKCTC faculty and staff, competed in teams to construct bridges from drinking straws, design catapults and create rockets. Additionally, the group toured the Portal 31 exhibition coal mine at Lynch. They also received a demonstration in the use of drone aircraft. The camp was sponsored by the college s Department of Workforce Solutions.
