Rep. Nelson tours Kentucky Coal Academy site at Cumberland
Rick Nelson, State Representative for the 87th District, toured recently the Cumberland site of the Kentucky Coal Academy where he met with academy personnel as well as with administrators from Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College. During the tour, he received hands-on instruction in the operation of various 5 DT simulators used to train potential miners and also used to provide re-training for current miners. The center at Cumberland features surface mine simulators in the form of a dozier, haul truck and front end loader as well as underground simulation training in the operation of a continuous miner mchine, roof bolting apparatus and shuttle car operation.
